Phones and pdas ARE smartphones today, is the iPad a giant PDA?

Apple Ipad VS PDA

Did you know? Phones and PDAS made a baby called the smartphone! A combination of a cell phone and PDA. So did an Apple’s Ipad make a baby with a smartphone or is it just a new PDA? While common knowledge to most tech geeks, if you walk into a Future shop or Best Buy and ask for a PDA chances are they will give you a smartphone. Well shouldn’t they be giving me an iPad instead? To understand the future of cell phones we can look at the past and appreciate the evolution of this essential cell phone technology. While PDA devices are now discontinued, they helped pave the way to cell phones we have and love today. Personal Digital Assistants(PDAS) were separate from cell phones until one day, they were combined as one (amazing)!  Enter the mighty smartphone we know today by many names such as as;  Google Nexus one, HTC EVO 4G, and even the Apple Iphone 4G! So could the Apple Ipad follow a similar path in technology evolution to the PDA? Could it be the first step in the creation a super-smartphone? Or is it just an improved PDA that will soon merge will smartphones? …

iPad + Smartphone = Super smartphone

Besides making you drool, smartphones are evolving faster than you can pull out your credit card. But not so fast junior, before you fork over the dollar bills for a shinny new Blackberry Bold 9700 or Ipad let’s quickly summarize:

PDA - You can’t buy this anymore at any major retail locations. It’s like VCR’s (they just died out after pioneering technology)

Ipad (3G version) – An giant smartphone on steroids, OR a giant PDA?

Dumb phone (Cell phone) - Cheap and generally you can only talk, text, or browse the internet on these.

Smartphones – Expensive and fast, you can do almost anything you can do on your computer
