We all know that Google tried to sell the Nexus one through the famous Google phone store. What you dint know is that it was actually a complete failure and Google has decided to switch to the more traditional way. The Nexus One will only be sold through the carriers, even though it was a nice channel to be sold through the web.
Andy Rubin, head of Android said that the web store has “remained a niche channel for early adopters.”
Also Google stated:
“From retail to viewing. Once we have increased the availability of Nexus One devices in stores, we’ll stop selling handsets via the web store, and will instead use it as an online store window to showcase a variety of Android phones available globally. ”
Oh, well…. I kind of liked the idea of having to buy the phone through the manufacture and not through the retail store. Usually if you buy it though a carrier they put a lot of unwanted application and block a lot of the main functions on the phone.
Google will eventually probably maybe try again in the future or not…
