AWS phones, compatible list of newest 3G AWS phones.

aws phones compatible listCompatible aws phones are here for Canada and the US. The AWS phones are either unlocked or carrier locked, they work on a frequency of 1700/2100 MHZ not found in “older” phones, because it is a fairly new standard in 3G phones. Everyday more manufacturers are releasing AWS compatible phones, Google was one of the first to support AWS with the Nexus One, and since then there have been many rumors that apple will follow with the iPhone AWS compatible version. That could mean it would be available from T-mobile in the USA. And in Canada, that could mean Wind Mobile could also carry the AWS iPhone.

We will continue adding phones to list as new aws phones emerge. If you have any additions or questions, please leave a comment below.

You should add Videotron as a Canadian AWS Provider. Huawei (chinese manifacutrer) makes AWS compatible phones, Videotron sells the Huawei U3200 and Huawei U7519 models for their AWS network.

Videotron is owned by quebecor Inc, same company that owns moblicity, Videotron is prmarily a cable and phone company and quebecor is a multi national holding company, prints the sears catalog and most other bit time printing in US and canada

    hi,
I was just wondering if the blackberry torch 9800 will be aws compatible? Because the torch, the bold, and the pearl, all have the same compatabilities listed on the blackberry site, which doesnt include the 1700/2100.

    thnks

      Hey,
there is no official AWS version for the Blackberry Torch 9800 announced yet for North America.
Some people have suggested that you can unlock/re-image the firmware to support AWS. But I have never done this so I can’t say 100% if it would work.

I am confused… all these phones listed… are you sure they are all compatible with AWS 1700/2100 compatible? I’m seeing alot of them that spec UMTS 1700/2100, but that’s not that same thing (if my research is right). Can anybody clarify?

Example: the Sony Xperia X10 – the Sony website doesn’t spec it at AWS anywhere… just UMTS.

    hey paul i saw this
In Canada, Wind Mobile has licensed AWS spectrum in every province except in Quebec, and began offering UMTS voice and data services on this spectrum at the end of 2009. Mobilicity has AWS spectrum covering many of the large urban areas and began offering services in May 2010. Quebecor licensed AWS spectrum throughout the province of Quebec and began offering service with its Videotron brand on September 9, 2010.[1] Shaw Communications licensed AWS spectrum in western Canada and northern Ontario, and hopes to launch wireless services in late 2011.

    Joe,

Try to find a way to manually choose the network. I had the same thing happen with a galaxy s vibrant and it was always on wind away. Until i type some code to bring up settings for network. Then it should work. It is because you have to tell it what one to choose… Thats what worked for me. Good luck man.

Joe, you tried forcing it to use only WCDMA? This is what i did with my tmobile vibrant. Hopefully you can find some way to do the same. It should work, just gotta find a way to get into the correct settings and choose the right bands.

I am looking for an Android based smartphone that supports AWS to use with wind mobile. The list above is very long and I am being a bit lazy in asking this question instead of searching hundreds of pages myself. Would someone be kind enough to list 2-3 phones from the list about that would be the closest comparison to Bell’s HTC Desire Z. I’m trying to stay under the $250 price range. Thanks in advance.

no, mobile info, it wouldn’t. unless rogers has more than the one type i had. i would just get a t-mobile phone on ebay or something. make sure you can unlock it though. also, there are two types. you probably want the one with 3.5mm audio.

The easiest way to get an cheap unlocked phone in Canada is to buy it from Wind and stay with them for 3 months, then they will unlock the phone for you free.

Curve 9300 can definitely work with Wind. I got mine from Wind, so if it’s unlocked, this phone can basically work with most Carriers

What about from sound quality? I have a nexus G1 right now, horrible sound quality esp on the hands free. I love the android phone, but after dropping it, it cracked the camera now as well. I also seem to be runniing out of memory , even though I copy all apps I can to the sd card.

So what is the best sound quality, long lasting battery, great reception, aws cell phone out there?
The Galaxy s2? But it is like a rediculous price right now.

Does anyone know if a (Sharp Aquos SH12C) phone from NTT DOCOMO Japan, will work with a 1700/2100 AWS
only because they make TV’s and they made the very first 3D phone last July so my guess is it should be better than the HTC, LG 3D phones that are in North America.

To work on Mobilicity (and Wind) the phone must support AWS 1700/2100 network frequencies.
Check the specs of your phone – a spec sheet will say what bands your phone supports. If AWS doesn’t appear there in the list of bands/frequencies supported (i.e. GSM, 3G, Edge, UTMS, etc.) then it simply won’t work on Mobilicity.
This is disappointing, I know, b/c having switched to Mobilicity I love it. BUT I couldn’t get any of my preferred smartphone choices (iPhone, Samsung Omnia II) b/c they don’t support Mobilicity’s AWS frequencies.

The phone I ended up with is pretty cool in its own way though and has proven durable. The Motorola X300 Spice for only about $160. If you compare it with Blackberry Torch (approx. $500) on GSM Arena, The Spice actually does slightly better overall in terms of specs and capabilities). I’ve owned a BB before and can say The Spice feels just as nice, with a good functional keyboard, which slides out when needed and disappears when not. And of course you have a ‘larger-than-Blackberry’ touch screen to play with also. So that’s not a bad choice if you can’t get your first choice.

Good news is that the AWS band – b/c it is superior quality – is gradually being adopted across North America, which means that all the major phone makers will soon have to manufacture their models to be compatible with AWS here.

BTW – both Mobilcity and Wind use the same AWS band, therefore each company’s phones are compatible with each other’s network. That should also widen your choice of handsets available.

      Good luck!

Hey, just snagged a TMobile Samsung Sidekick 4G that should work on WIND. Specs aren’t that impressive (http://www.gsmarena.com/t_mobile_sidekick_4g-3874.php), but the keyboard is to die for! Really looking forward to getting my mitts on that puppy, unlocking it, tossing on a new ROM and flying! Have you heard much about it aside from the usual reviewers?

Hi,Everybody, there ,I am very glad to inform you that today Shanghai Feixun Commmunications release serveral AWS 3G android phones, they are all umts900/1700/2100MHZ and qudband gsm supported. Since nowadays, except large brands phones, there is no other phones with AWS available to work on Mobilicity (and Wind), T-mobile ,but these two phones model FSW810 and FSW910 with Marvel PXA910 chipset and with android 2.3 version are amazingly working very well with these three operator’s networks.

This is really not intend to advertisement, but only to let the world know they would have another choice for a cheaper yet amazing phone when they choose Wind, Moblicity, T-mobile or Videotron.

If any one want to know more, can contact me for further communication. My skype id is tinawong01

this list is not accurate. the htc dream does not work, the tmobile g1 does. neither does the sony erikson x10a in canada, the x10i in the states does, i dont think the rest of this list is good either. you must list the model(a,e,i,o,u,etc) after the the style. i got both htc dream and the x10 and neither of them work.
